About Jodie
Jodie Hewitson brings more than 27 years of public accounting experience to Tanner, where she serves as a trusted advisor to a wide range of clients across industries and entity types and is the Tax Practice Head. Before joining Tanner, Jodie spent a decade with a Big 4 firm in Salt Lake City, where she advanced to senior manager and built deep technical knowledge across all areas of tax compliance and consulting.
Known for her versatility and depth, Jodie is a true generalist with specialized experience in consolidated and multi-state tax filings, international tax, partnership and S corporation issues, private equity structures, not-for-profit entities, and high-net-worth individual tax. She works with clients in industries including nonprofit, technology, manufacturing, distribution, hospitality, real estate, professional services, food services, investment, and retail.
Jodie is particularly passionate about serving nonprofit organizations and has a long history of doing so. Over her career, she has worked with groups such as the Salt Lake Olympic Organizing Committee, the National MS Society, Guadalupe Schools, and the Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Her commitment to service extends beyond her client work. She has held roles on several boards and advisory groups, including the Utah Chapter of the National MS Society, the Women Tech Council Advisory Board, and the Utah affiliate of the AWSCPA.
Jodie is a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants. She also serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Utah School of Accounting and is currently the Chair of the Allinial Global National Tax Committee.
She holds both a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Professional Accountancy from the University of Utah. Outside of work, Jodie enjoys traveling and catching a good movie whenever she can.
