About Marc
With over 25 years in public accounting, Marc Metcalf brings deep expertise and insight to his role as Tax Director. He began his career in 1998 and spent more than seven years at a Big 4 firm in Salt Lake City, where he built a strong foundation in corporate taxation, passthrough entities, individual tax matters, and tax provisions.
At Tanner, Marc specializes in serving tax-exempt organizations. He goes beyond compliance—acting as a strategic advisor to help nonprofits navigate financial and regulatory complexity, ensure long-term stability, and achieve mission success. His proactive approach supports clients in aligning their financial strategies with ever-evolving tax laws.
Marc earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accountancy from the University of Utah. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA).
Outside of work, Marc enjoys baseball, traveling, and music. His passion for problem-solving, client success, and continuous learning makes him a trusted resource to the businesses and nonprofits he serves.
