About Todd
With over 30 years of audit and business advisory experience, Todd McKinnon serves as a trusted advisor to public, private, and not-for-profit companies across various industries including software and technology, construction, manufacturing, distribution, retail, energy, and financial services. He has extensive expertise in audits and advisory services related to financial statement, internal controls (SOX), SOC examinations and other IT assurance such as HITRUST and ISO (the International Organization for Standardization), and other business advisory services. As a Certified Fraud Examiner, Todd utilizes the skills that he has developed as a financial auditor to provide high-level forensic accounting and litigation support services. Passionate about building high-performing teams, Todd has played a key role in recruiting and mentoring talent at Tanner.
Todd founded and leads Tanner’s Cloud FinOps practice, which helps organizations maximize the business value of cloud and technology, make timely data-driven decisions, and create financial accountability through collaboration between engineering, finance, and business teams. He is also a co-founder of the Cloud Finance Association, a network for finance leaders managing cloud investment strategies.
Before joining Tanner, Todd spent 12 years at a Big 4 firm, where he conducted financial and SOX audits for companies across North America. His experience includes guiding clients through mergers and acquisitions, public and private debt offerings, and regulatory compliance.
Todd is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University. Active in the profession, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Utah Association of Certified Public Accountants (UACPA).
